Project idea

Learning can and does happen anywhere. Sometimes that learning occurs in classrooms, other times it results from face-to-face and virtual encounters and interactions between individuals away from lecture halls and seminar rooms. Space – whether physical or virtual, individual or shared – can have an important impact on learning. It can bring people together; it can encourage exploration, collaboration and discussion; it can also frame an unspoken message of exclusion. The need for new learning spaces is constantly increasing. This is what pushed me to design this building. The idea was to create a building that is used by community as a learning center and which can used by community as a place where they can spend their free time and exchange knowledge.

Project description

The changing educational requirements have prompted more tailored approaches to designing environments for learning. Classes for quiet learning and those for group work are designed in the building in order to provide comfort for each student. The access to the reading rooms is done through the stairs which also can be used as an amphitheater for the users.
The ground floor is inserted for the sake of preserving the outside space, thus creating a shelter under which students can stay and can feel secure.
The building is created as an annex of the school located near the location. The architecture of the building is made of brick as a natural material and adapting to the context.
