Project idea

The main idea of the project is to protect and preserve the identity of Burkinabe and this identity in most societies is the culture of the people. The concept of the design came from the key element of the people of Burkina Faso. these key elements are culture and the indigenous mask. the mask indicates a central point and a form of sprouting out . it shows a pateern similar to that of the residential settlements which is a courtyard like arrangement. Being in a courtyard helps one navigates his way easily.

Project description

The design is visibly divided into different parts which are, the work and show area (this area entails all the behind the scene activities), the labo area ( this area entails the classrooms and learning spaces both indoor and outdoor), the area for covivitality entails the relaxation and refreshment spot, exhibit space and the art studios. There is a public calm spot that is shaded with a cool ambience upon accessing the theatre. the theatre is connected by ramps for easy access and suitable for every catergory of person. the theatre also has other access from the ground level incase of emergency.

Technical information

Simple and local construction techniques and materials are used. Adobe bricks are the main materials for the walls of the newly created facilities, the openings for ventilation and natural light are based on traditional vernacular ways. The bridge is made up of concrete/ limestone products which is readily available in Burkina Faso as with the adobe bricks.
