Project idea

Site context
Once the site was a green pocket in the heart of the city where people use to spend their time in the morning and evenings. Now it is a concrete mass after the construction of our college (SPAV) and this has taken away the quality of the site and made people forget about it.

My realization
This made me decide to go out of the context of our college design to bring a very unique sense to the site through this cafe using very the least concrete and more natural materials to bring back the natural feel of the site as before, also sustainable. So that outsiders start coming back to the site and their bonding with the site gets recreated.

Project description

Concept _Coffee crush
Our college cafeteria (SPAV)
A space to break for a coffee, after long boring hours .usually we see canteens in offices and colleges. The love of coffee makes one drive towards the canteen. So taking coffee crush as the concept, I developed the form of the cafe with coffee beans in the form of a heart. So the feel of individuals towards coffee can be seen in the form of the building.

Plot chosen and justification
plot area 500 sq.m (20x25 m)
Chosen very close to the entrance where visiting of outsiders to the cafe will be easy and will not be a problem for the privacy of students,
as the hostels are a bit far from the plot chosen. So I can bring back the people.
Even though it is a small building it can be clearly visible from the entry.
The plot chosen has an existing tree that helps me to play around it.
Placed in between the academic block and play area which is a perfect place where it can be active throughout the day.
The plot has beautiful views of hills in front which are very close to the campus and also the views of the play area and academic block.
Easy access for the service vehicle to the cafe.

Design description
A sustainable approach to making it more natural and eco friendly.
variety of formal and informal spaces which can give freedom for one to choose according to his mood. Dining spaces arranged in such a way everyone gets the surrounding views. The cafe adds soul to the campus and acts as the nucleus to the site. The cafe can accommodate 150 people with its maximum capacity on the first floor. Easy access from the academic block, play area, also from the entry. Most of the materials used are local, recyclable and the construction techniques are very simple and traditional. The simple natural forms and colors adding beauty to the cafe.

Technical information

construction techniques are simple and effective. The filler slab which is easy to build low cost more advantages is provided in the design. The cafeteria was not a part of the master plan so I have chosen the plot and justified it. the plan and cross-section give the basic details. The visualizations are taken in all possible angles to understand the project and are done in lumion.
