Project idea

The project seeks to develop a program that includes high-class hotel with an Exhibition Center and facilities destined for a wellness center typical of accommodation of this category to serve tourists seeking to explore the Route of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico. So the idea was taken to reuse the tons of fiber that are discarded daily, after the production of tequila.

Project description

The proposal recodes the landscape, the large agave plantations that gradually adapt to the territory as mathematical algorithms. In this progressive process, a cubic elemental generative unit is chosen, which is made possible by forming chains and relating to other similar ones. This physical adaptation, orders and enables the multiple functions to the outside. Ascending and descending in turn to allow the user to access uneven terrain.

Technical information

A common feature between the construction systems of central and South American cultures is that they are made up of a series of modular units of similar size. These modular units were designed in such a way that they fit together and could transmit their load to the ground efficiently, even forming large spaces. However, in this era, when construction systems are looking for lighter components and scientific advances have allowed us to create new materials that have also been adapted to these processes. That's the main reason i choose the agave fiber extrusion process as an alternative construction material.
