Project idea

The main idea of the project is to show the endless Kuban open spaces in a small area in the historic city center.

Project description

Cossack region, Cossack soul, Cossack lands, freedom, song and dance - all these concepts are inextricably linked and create a holistic, vivid and colorful image that arises in our mind when we talk about the history of the settlement and development of the site of the modern Krasnodar Territory.

Let's imagine what the land looked like in the begginning. Historical references mention oak groves spread on the high bank of the Kuban among endless steppes. Since then, the territory has changed beyond recognition, but within the limits of a continuously growing city, the Kuban River demonstrates an enviable constancy, only slightly adjusting the picturesque line of the watercourse. But outside the city, we can observe almost untouched landscapes: the vast steppes still sway in the wind, especially impressing the traveler at sunset. And just such a picture: the living Kuban steppes, as if dancing to the music of the wind in the rays of the setting sun - inspired us to create a lively, dynamic image the new building of the Theater and Concert Complex "Kuban Cossack Choir".

The design territory, located in the very center of the Kuban capital, occupies almost a quarter within the borders of Krasnaya, Pashkovskaya, Rashpilevskaya and Dlinnaya streets. This site is the best suited for placing a landmark cultural object. Analyzing the surrounding buildings, it was difficult not to notice the area formed by the retreat deep into the block of building No. 118 on Krasnaya Street. The decision to create a worthy answer and give Krasnodar and city guests a new recreation area, also having displaced the building of the Theater and Concert complex relative to the building line, it came almost instantly.

The entrance group was designed in such a way that the guests of the Complex, arriving from the side of Krasnaya Street, are influenced by the main facade, smoothly, like a light steppe breeze, catching and attracting them to the level of the second floor - “High Coast of the Kuban”. Behind the extensive glazing - even in the exterior - spatial structures are clearly visible: columns smoothly turning into beams, reminiscent of oaks that once grew on the territory of the city with their strong, but nevertheless slender silhouettes of branches.

However, the main idea of the project - to show the true scope of the Kuban steppes - is revealed precisely in the interior. After all, this is a very difficult task: to create a feeling of limitless space in the cramped, squeezed development of the central part of the city. A large glazing area, light tones of the design of the whole complex and the active use of double-light spaces together create the effect of free space with an abundance of air and light, enveloping visitors with the atmosphere of the truth of freedom.
