Project idea

The diploma project proposes to rebuild the vegetable and fruits market. Through this phase, the project aims to improve the connection between the market and public space, to redesign a well fit volume into the urban context and to propose new commercial and accommodation functions for the traders.

Project description

The diploma project, based on the analysis made in Ploiesti regarding the existing situation of agro-food markets, revolves around the redesigning of a single agro-food market. Thus, the chosen site is located in the central area of the city and was chosen due to the important position it has at the urban site. With all this data, the project pursued a more contextual but also contemporary attitude both towards its neighborhood, Halele Centrale market and its position towards the city. It was proposed to eliminate the existing parking, relocate it to a new building and transform the original space into a "shared space". From the architectural point of view, the project aimed transparency between the market and the public space, flexibility, a direct connection with the building of the Halele Centrale, proposing accommodation functions for traders and new commercial functions like tasteful interior spaces inside the market.
