Idea projektu

Exploring design through a harmonious return to nature, the Mushroom Factory concept draws direct inspiration from mushroom anatomy—specifically, the intricate gills beneath the cap. This natural pattern informs a distinctive parametric approach, where the interplay of two electromagnetic forces generates a cohesive, dual-circle design. The resulting structure elegantly reflects the organic forms found in nature, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. Through its biomimetic design, the Mushroom Factory not only visually resonates with its natural inspiration but also embodies ecological principles, creating an architecturally compelling and environmentally responsible space.

Popis projektu

This project fosters a harmonious workflow by thoughtfully organizing distinct departments, each tailored to specific functional requirements. The layout prioritizes seamless connectivity, enhancing efficiency and employee well-being. Integrated visitor spaces, including an informative showroom, offer insights into the factory’s operations, enriching visitor experience and engagement. Complementing this public interface, a restaurant serves both visitors and workers, promoting social interaction and comfort within the facility. Overall, the design balances operational efficiency with welcoming, inclusive spaces, creating a unified environment that accommodates productive workflows while offering transparency and accessibility to visitors.
The gills create a unique way of lighting, where only the north lighting can enter the factory while the other side is covered with facade blocking the south lighting.

Technické informace

Linear trusses contour the building’s form, establishing expansive column‑free interiors that can be reconfigured with minimal interruption to operations. By spanning the entire width of the plan, these trusses eliminate intermediate supports, fostering a flexible, future‑proof workspace adaptable to evolving production requirements or spatial reprogramming. The exterior envelope employs a ventilated wooden façade system, coupling high thermal performance with a warm, natural aesthetic. Continuous airflow behind the cladding moderates internal temperatures and mitigates moisture accumulation, while responsibly sourced timber underscores the project’s commitment to sustainability. Together, structure and skin orchestrate an efficient, resilient, and inviting industrial environment.
