Idea projektu

EN: The aim of the project was to create a design for a stable for horses and a separate accommodation unit for the grounds manager/stable keeper. Both of these designs are a part of a recreational facility with the horse paddock, where the whole selected area was urbanistically solved by designing a guest house with accommodation for guests, which also has restaurant, wellness and conference facilities. The guest house is complemented by smaller recreational buildings for accommodation. The entire area is complemented by paved pedestrian areas, parking lots, an uncovered riding arena and an outdoor paddock for horses.
The proposed recreational facility area is located in the village of Jasenica, outside the existing housing, on a set of sloping land. It is this nature of the terrain that gives the opportunity to arrange the buildings on the site so that they do not intrude into each other’s space and offer a varied range of views of the surrounding countryside in which the buildings are located.

EN: The aim of this project was to design a recreational complex with a horse paddock, offering accommodation and opportunities for recreational horseback riding. Throughout the design process, it was important to emphasize the principles of sustainability and ecology, while also focusing on the comfort requirements of both people and animals.
Based on the zoning plan, a series of site and context analyses, and inspiration from around the world, a comprehensive design proposal was developed.
The entire area integrates seamlessly into the surrounding landscape—both in terms of materials and through terrain modifications carried out across the property. The design addresses the needs of accommodation and recreation, respects the concept of sustainability, and presents an attractive appearance while maintaining the calm and pleasant atmosphere of the environment.

Technické informace

EN: The dominant material used in the buildings is wood. Wood has excellent properties in terms of high strength, thermal insulation requirements, and it is also a very aesthetically pleasing material. Since the buildings are located in the middle of nature, it is important to me that the structures harmonize with their surroundings. This material was also chosen because of its joinery potential – using mortise and tenon joints. This method allows for easy assembling and disassembling of components. This approach was selected to enable future extensions if there is high demand for recreational horse riding. At the same time, the opposite scenario is also considered – in which case the structure can be easily dismantled and removed. The wood considered for the construction is red spruce.
Due to the hygienic requirements placed on the stable, it is necessary to treat the interior with a water-repellent coating – Sika Sikagard 850 Clear – considering the increased humidity from regular washing of interior floors. On the exterior, the wood is treated with Osmo UV-Protection-Oil Extra 420, which serves as protection against UV radiation and also provides water resistance, especially important due to the presence of an outdoor horse shower. The same exterior coating is recommended for the accommodation block; however, interior treatment there is not required.
The foundations and retaining walls are constructed from conventional reinforced concrete to ensure mechanical durability, strength, and stability. For hygienic reasons inside the stable, a concrete screed is used on the floor. To facilitate maintenance and regular cleaning with water, a portion of a single row of formwork blocks must extend above the ground level. These are coated externally with exposed concrete, which visually expresses its structural function and simultaneously adds a new dimension of aesthetics to the building.
The stable roof is designed as a pitched roof with a slope of 36 degrees. The roofing consists of longitudinal wooden slats, also made from red spruce. Approximately in the middle of the roof, there are skylight elements in the form of longitudinal plexiglass slats. The roof of the accommodation block is designed as a flat green roof, which blends beautifully with the surroundings when viewed from the road, so that passersby or visitors experience a sense of harmony with nature rather than disturbance.
Exterior elements such as columns or slats are also made of red spruce – both for their favorable properties and for consistency in design. The same material is used for the wooden pergola located above the accommodation block. This pergola serves a protective and shading function.
The window and door frames are made of wood and painted in "Silk Grey" – RAL 7044. This color scheme applies both to the stable and the accommodation block.
