Idea projektu

Courtyard is an open space, typically enclosed by walls or buildings, often at the center of a building or complex. It serves as a shared area for various activities, offering residents a communal space to connect, relax, and engage in social interactions. In the context of senior housing, a courtyard becomes a vital element, functioning as a peaceful and inclusive outdoor environment where residents can enjoy nature, participate in activities, and foster a sense of community.

Korea undergoes rapid modernization and urbanization, there are evolving dynamics in how society views the elderly. While the traditional respect for elders persists, there are also challenges related to changing family structures, economic pressures, and a desire for independence among the elderly.
South Korea is a country with increasing number of seniors. Seoul as the on of the quickest developing city in the world is not the best place for aging society. Nevertheless, suitable place for them have to be assured.

Older generation cannot be isolated from the rest of the community, on the contrary they need connection with others. In senior housing contexts, creating communal spaces, organizing group activities, and facilitating social events can help combat isolation. Additionally, incorporating intergenerational programs or community partnerships can further enrich the social fabric, promoting a vibrant and inclusive environment.
Designing senior housing was strictly focused on creating the community where the eldery population will not feel left out but included among citizens while still having their own private space.

This is why every social program is dedicated for seniors and youngsters to participate. Additionally, programs are created in a way that allows to make profit for whole complex and partly for the district.

Independent living provides more privacy while seniors can still enjoy living in the community.

Co-living is more about socialization by giving the opportunity to accompany each other daily.

Nursing + care living is suitable for elders who are in need of daily support.
