Idea projektu

SACRA VIA
Site: Carthage Hill.
Program: Requalification of the Byrsa Hill and Rehabilitation of the National Museum of Carthage.

As an ambition to revitalize and breathe new life into the historical site of Byrsa Hill, our project seeks to pay homage to the rich history of this site by using architectural form as a narrative medium.

Popis projektu

Byrsa Hill, the forum of Carthage under Emperor Augustus and the ultimate Carthaginian refuge during the Third Punic War, is now in a state of neglect.
Our project is an attempt to narrates the history of Carthage. A journey.

Given that the site itself is a storytelling tool, the architecture we propose is intricately woven into the site.
And is manifested at three symbolic scales: the sea, the hill, and the National Museum of Carthage. Each scale embodies its own sacredness, establishing profound connection between the place and its history.

The sea, symbolizing every beginning, marks the start and end of the journey.
The hill, a sanctuary and forum, becomes the living space where our project takes root.
The museum serves as continuity and a natural extension of our project.

The story is narrated through these three scales.
Architecture serves as the framework.
Delicately laid upon the elements of the site.
A guided trajectory, leading visitors through the space, through time, facing the sea.
The experience is crafted as a journey.

Technické informace

The architectural form is the extension of the museum already in place.
It is arranged to shape the trajectory guiding visitors through the site and with it spaces accommodating various program uses such as exhibition galleries, a library, a lecture hall, a cafeteria, etc.
we extend the program beyond the museum’s confines to foster a welcoming public space.
The trajectory transits from public to privet making the project open on its surroundings.

Key principles guide our vision: harmony with the environment, a narrative woven into every element, an extension of the museum into public life, adaptability to the natural topography, cohesive programmatic spaces, and a consistent blend of form and function.

This is more than a museum; it is a space that invites you to be part of a narrative. Welcome to Sacra-via
