Idea projektu

The recent population density shift, without careful consideration of consequences and holistic solutions, may have derived results related to our environmental interactions. Architecture has an immune influence on humanity, to impact it for the better; one of the goals is to provide for human needs. Our built environment provides structures for the way we, as humans, live our lives. Architecture has the ability to provide beyond physiological needs. It has the power and devices to build transcendence, purpose and greater quality of life for the individuals.
In the current conditions of multi-housing, areas are suffering from overcrowding and deprived living conditions, resulting in poor physical and mental health. A Space has direct effects on its user. This develops the idea of creating living spaces that could be shaped according to its user’s needs.
Hence, this project concerns the understanding of human nature and built environment, micro-climate, social dialogue and culture of space.

Popis projektu

The main idea of the project is to propose such a design solution that caters with the needs of a family and provide them a better living environment.
to better understand a person's needs "Theory of hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow" was taken as a reference that helps to develop the architectural translations for the design.
the proposed design was drived by combining the translations and a survey which was also done in reference with the theory, by doing so it helped to develop a proposal that was more deeply rooted with the context and their needs.
the project consist of a multi-housing unit of 120 sq yards, which is a common household size for a middle class family living the city.
later different combinations were used to develop categories of design.
the vision of the project is to not only provide a spatial solution but also bring back the street life that is now long lost.

Technické informace

the project consists of materials that were available locally.
a simple structural system with the incorporation of wind-catchers were used.
staircases were placed in such a way that it also works as a wind catcher.
Rattan panels were used for the partitions, making them likable aesthetically as well as affordable
cc block jaalis were used to maintain the semi-permeable aspect of the house.
