Idea projektu

Media Library in the city center may constitute an ecological manifesto and also serve to correct air quality in the area full of pea soup and toxins. Achieving the results in this location is possible due to the deployment of array technological solutions. Located in the external elevation of the building the Medeia Library is to support the process of the air purification and oxygen production. Also a double elevation fulfills the functions of a thermal and acoustic buffer, at the same time it protects the object against noise from a busy street.
Building is not only a breath for the city, but also for its inhabitants. Combining a lot of functions of a cultural character is a place, where can we take a rest from our fast lifestyle in the city. An open space ground floor connects a street zone with the boulevard by the Odra river, multiple terraces encourage to admire the greenery during breaks from activities.

Popis projektu

Because of the localization in the area of the compact urban tissue, the initial solid is a cuboid. Following the idea of breathing, buffer constituting air protection of the building from external factors was decided to apply. It also performs function of communication. All constructions of the building is based on the column grid. On this basis, the functional system of the building and installations shafts were deformed.
The facade consists of the space full of oxygen at which we have the opportunity of oxygenation with the oxygen masks.
One of the floors is provided with a space for Gamow bags and norm-baric chambers. Therapy with their use calms down and oxygenates the body.
The roof area was used to grow hydroponic plants. Thanks to the laying down the membrane under boarding and creating a place to housing rainwater a lot of water is saved. A designed module filter system is purifying carbon dioxide and urban toxin thanks to algae microculture installation on the facade. The applied technology pushes the process of decarbonation of the city and transformers pollution into energy.

Technické informace

The elevation is made from ETFE foil which is lined with algae medium. That bio gel filters air launched in lower part of facade. It cause raising air bubbles through hydrous medium in bioplastic. Carbon dioxide is retained in algae bio gel, then it grows and produces biomass. That waste fuel can be housed and used e.g. for bioplastic production. The process is finished with releasing fresh filtered oxygen in a higher part of each module on the facade.
Oblong impletions with algae microculture poses a chassis and form of gel structure. Thanks to the efficient photosynthesis process, it is possible to produce a large amount of oxygen which enhances the quality of the air in the interior and neighborhood of the building. Due to fast proliferation of algae farms biomass which is received is then subjected appropriate process and used as another energy source.
Under the floor in the buffer space there is a system which carries out water and air to elevations modules and carries out biogas and biomass away. Biomass is carried out to the lowest storey to a boiler when it is burned off and then energy is generated by a transducer.
