Idea projektu

Freedom is an absolutely vital factor of technology in philosophy, and technology often sustains freedom. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find environmentally friendly locations in the built world. The world's overcrowded metropolises are dealing with slum-like suburbs, squatted abandoned buildings, and overcrowded metropolitan cores such as Bratislava. Since the fenced “STU” building has an enclosed effect, any vertical addition will make the space visually heavy and would shift the attention from the university. Moreover while scheming i figured that it would be very appealing if I put more effort underground instead of filling the upper court yard. The extension volume I am creating is a reversed density penetrating the ground and marking the importance of the liberated green courtyard. Through researching I came to a conclusion that our current generation desires technological development in every aspect of life which concludes that the Earth scraper rising from this point of water has a magical sense to it. It would grant its residents the feeling of rising up, coming to the surface, similar to how seeds grow. While taking a look at Bratislava’s historical aspect, I realized that the city found peace after passing through several wars. So namestie slobody or freedom squares location conducted me to locate my project and create a bond between these two entities which would revitalize this important neglected square.

Popis projektu

Starting with the last story that consists of a water storage it provides serenity and calmness for the students. Going upwards there are classrooms, workshops, and research center respectively leading to the exhibition and the common space, where it is more crowded and full of life. The greenery surroundings and atmosphere paints the students heads with ideas, creativity and innovation since it is placed in open spaces at a high depth to assure interaction and connection between technology and nature.
The whole design I created ensures a maximum amount of preservation for environmental aspects and also the empty space I left concerning the courtyard to be used for future events.

Technické informace

As the world gets more populated, the mass use of underground space could help discover long-term answers to the challenges of growing population and climate change while maintaining and boosting living standards. In terms of practical land use, considering below the earth's surface as a solution has a lot to recommend it. In addition, Underground construction conserves fuel. This systematic earth architecture consists of a large distribution central void that permits natural light and diffuse sunlight into a building, diminishing the need for electric lighting.
In addition to massive plant and vertical gardens absorbing air pollutants; ventilation is provided to circulate through every single story to minimize heat, create fresh air, and optimize solar radiation.
Moreover, this funnel architecture used to harvest water is beneficial for sustainability since water flows into the outer wall pumps by a water turbine generator, which recycles used and clean water for the STU building's facilities while simultaneously providing the majority of the electricity. Thus aiding in the use of irrigation and providing water needs.
