Idea projektu

The main idea was using the urban structure that has formed over decades to create a building and it’s facade.

Popis projektu

The location is the Nepsziget, which is currently connected to the Pest side of Budapest as a peninsula. In concept, the new design would have the Nepsziget converted back to an island as it was in the 19th century. From today’s time, the same state cannot be real due to the development of the city, so 2 new islands had to be created.
I chose the inner end of the old bay as my design location. Since this is a future site design focusing on the evolving new urban structure of the city, my building was a response of these new building sites and designs around the area.
The motif of becoming an island – detachment – appears here, the facade image which is generated by the urban structure is split in half as the Danube cuts the building apart as well. Thus creating the final picture that resembles a gondola harbor.

Technické informace

Despite its pillar construction, the building has no raster, only column rows. The supporting structure consists of simple column series and this structure appears on the façade as well, this all has derived from the existing urban fabric, but it is still meet the criteria of the needed structure.
The façade looks like a High-Tech building, with glass and metal.
