Project idea

This school building is designed in the Brutalist architectural style, featuring a bold Y-shaped form with three wings placed at 45-degree angles to enhance natural wind flow. North light trusses are incorporated to allow soft, diffused daylight into classrooms while minimizing heat gain. The layout ensures environmental efficiency and spatial clarity, with parking placed conveniently at the front and playgrounds positioned in the northeast to benefit from optimal sunlight. The design combines functionality, sustainability, and expressive form to create a purposeful and inspiring learning environment.

Project description

The project envisions a functionally efficient and environmentally responsive school building in Sholinganallur, designed in the Brutalist style. It incorporates 45-degree angled wings to enhance natural wind flow and north light trusses to bring in soft daylight while minimizing heat gain. The layout ensures clear zoning for academic, recreational, and access areas, with parking at the front and playgrounds in the northeast. Using durable materials suited to the coastal climate, the design provides a strong architectural identity and a user-friendly space that fosters learning, comfort, and sustainability

Technical information
