Project idea

The basis for the formation of the object was the historical architecture of the city, as well as the unique relief of the northern part of Italy, which is dolomite mountains and vineyards. In addition, in the northern part of Italy is historically active in terraced agriculture, and the vineyards are vertically landscaped living walls-fences. According to the city’s 2030 development plan, the priority is to increase the percentage of greenery in the city. Thus, it was decided to maximize the percentage of landscaping not only as a landscape design site solution, but also by including living plants in the architectural and artistic image of the building.
The main objective of the project was to preserve the historical structure of the production building, presented as arches forming a corridor, including it into the total volume of the newly designed facility. It was also necessary to organize the possibility of through and through the building without hindrance. In addition, in the current urban situation, the facility is the nucleus and unites several pedestrian directions, including the priority direction of movement of people on the main pedestrian boulevard.

Project description

Based on the given urban planning situation, the decision was made Organize the area in front of the central entrance to the building. According to the spatial solutions, the building is divided into three main volumes: - Central volume with an entrance area through which it passes Pedestrian boulevard; - A block with educational function, represented by a large transformed hall, lecture halls and studios; - A block with a social and cultural function, presented by the library, exhibition gallery, greenhouse and small commercial premises. The exterior of the building is a single volume with accent spots. The first floor of the building has a continuous glazing and curvilinear shape, this architectural solution is a reference to bionic and biological living forms. The second, third and fourth floors are represented by a single massive volume, decorated with perforated facade panels of matte white color, which rests on a light in its image, first floor. This decision symbolizes a kind of subordination of wildlife to the industrial world. But at the same time monolithic and heavy, at a glance, the volume is divided into stepped landscaped terraces rising to the greened exploited roof. Above the volume of the fourth floor is a technical sub-floor for roof maintenance with intensive greenery, which is a greenhouse garden. The roof of the MFC building is operated, it is located flowerbeds in the botanical garden. The greenhouse on the roof is covered with a light three-dimensional net canopy made of metal and filled with glass. The canopy rests on thin columns and on 4 spatial envelopes of the funnel. The prototype of the funnel is the trees that are the symbol of northern Italy - Italian pine, pine. The main focus is a multi-level arch located at the entrance to the main lobby. It becomes a portal that accentuates the movement of the pedestrian boulevard through the building. The profile of the arch repeats the curve of the mesh casing-funnel. The arch in turn is a kind of reference to the historical architecture of Italy - Catholic churches, the profile of the arch corresponds to the profile of preserved historical constructions.

Technical information

The volumetric planning solution of the object is directly dependent on the functional purpose. According to the concept, a multifunctional complex implies the presence of large areas with free layout. The structural design is embodied in the form of a rigid skeleton design. The spatial system consists of columns with a square section of 400 x 400 mm, with a grid of columns of 6x9 m and 9x9 m, the maximum height of application of the given structure is 15.3 m. The slab is 2.8 x 2.8 m thick from 160 to 200 mm. Depending on the location, are divided into column, intercostal and plate-insert.
The accent element of the project is «glass kara» - canopy over the used roof, represented by a single layer mesh shell. The envelope is made with the aid of space-rod structures with glass filling, in addition to linear columns - poles having common axes with the structural framework system of the building, spatial funnels designed in a manner similar to the Shukhov shell are arranged.
The project provides the organization of maintained terraces with greenery.
The area of the building plot is 12 545 sq.m.
Building area 8 358 sq.m.
The area of the building, including terraces and serviced roof 27 293 sq.m.
Underground parking area 7351 sq.m.
Number of parking spaces in parking lot 175
The building is equipped with the latest fire extinguishing technology, as well as a system of vacuum waste disposal on floors.
