Project idea

The project serves to design the interior of an apartment on Ljubljana Street. This space includes a living room, a kitchen, a master bedroom with a wardrobe and a private bathroom, three bedrooms for children, bathrooms and a laundry room. The designed layout provides ergonomic comfort with style, colors and other sharp accents, contrasting colors and lighting between private areas and accented sections, non-standard furniture models, layout and diversity of decor.
The project uses the style - Space Age - Cosmic Era, which started as a result of the development of technology. One of the important facts connected with the beginning of the Space Age is the launch of Sputnik 1 by the Soviet Union in 1957. It was the first in the world for an artificial satellite to orbit the Earth in 96.17 minutes. The launch of Sputnik 1 ushered in a new era of political, scientific, and technological advancement, known as the cosmic era, with the rapid development of new technologies and the race for achievement, mainly between the United States and the Soviet Union. Rapid advances were made in rocketry, materials science, and found additional application in other fields as well as in interior design.

Project description

In the given living space we meet arched openings, which are separated by an aquarium with a decorative function of spherical shape. The living room is combined with the kitchen. The master bedroom is characterized by non-standard design, which implies the level division of the space - the bedroom area is located from zero to minus 54 cm . Kids bedrooms are distinguished by cozy, yet fun and interesting design details. In addition to the seating area, the rooms focus on entertainment and work zones, which integrate vintage functional-decorative furniture, neon lights with a specific content, distinctive specifics of floor and wall coverings and a maximal layout solution.

Technical information

Contrasting interactions are used for color composition - the predominance of bright red with the background colors, through furniture, decorative details and lighting. Furniture and lighting are selected according to the specifics of the style with arched, soft shapes and their vintage-modernist character. From a design point of view, the rhythmic play of colors is mainly emphasized with lighting and decor, which echoes the other areas of the apartment in terms of composition. Its bathroom is separated from the master bedroom space by a partition of glass blocks, where the main focus is on the interaction of light and shadow and the iconic furniture. As for the previously mentioned aquarium, the glass thickness required to withstand the water weight while maintaining strength and integrity is around 1 cm. We've decided to use the undergravel filter for the aquarium. These filters sit underneath the aquarium gravel. They usually use air bubbles to move the water, but in bigger installations power heads (water pumps) are used as the filtering medium. They work by pumping air down a small tube into the base of a larger tube. The air returns to the surface as bubbles. This action draws water up the larger tube. The water has to pass through the gravel before it returns to the aquarium. The gravel is used as the filtering medium.
