Project idea

The main goal of the project was to unify the transport hub in the city of Trenčín and create one point, we are going to an object in which bus transport, railway transport, car, pedestrian routes and bicycle transport will connect and meet. All these types of transport would be replaced by economic support such as jobs in various spaces, offices, workshop rooms and studios, supplemented by public space and various operations.
The idea is based on the problem of stations in Trenčín, which are separate and do not work in accordance with todays design in engineering and transport facilities in the world. Another trend is to combine these different modes of transport, which is also reflected in the solution and concept of the building.
The result should be a single transport hub or terminal, which is actually a kind of hybrid and mixed use object.

Project description

The concept of the building consists of points where one of the main points is the verticality of the space, the principle of which separates the various operations and modes of transport from each other and simplifies human access to them. At the same time, a hierarchy of space and operations is created in the building, which helps orientation in space.
The building of a station or transport hub is conceived as as transparent as possible so that as much light as possible enters, but at the same time the double semi-transparent and sliding façade helps to shield the building so that it does not overheat.

The object of the transport hub in Merina should be transparent not only in physical form but also easy to read and accessible to anyone looking for a temporary transport point or destination.

Technical information

The main benefit of the project is the unification of stations in Trenčín - bus and rail, along with other modes of transport. All waiting areas enter the interior and are covered from adverse weather conditions and at the same time are supported by various additional services and shops. This makes the building a destination and a more pleasant space to wait or change from one mode of transport to another.
The new bus and railway station should form a kind of catalyst in the territory of Merina and in the near or wider vicinity of Trenčín and the new construction in Merina itself, which is currently in a poor and dilapidated state.
