Traces of stories. A design for a model reading room interior that connects generations.

Idea projektu

The main goal of the project is to create a friendly and unique space aimed at fostering reading habits among younger generations. There is a general deficit of shared spaces (in Poland) that adequately respond to recreational reading needs.

Popis projektu

The central part of the concept consists of six separate reading rooms, each dedicated to a different literary genre: romance, fantasy, crime, adventure, science fiction, and non-fiction. Their shapes are derived from the first letters of the genre names (in polish), and each space has been designed with attention to associations, color schemes, and materials characteristic of the respective style. Readers enter the interiors through individual corridors intended to introduce the user to the atmosphere that will be further developed inside the space itself. The main inspirations for creating these environments were: The Lord of the Rings series and the iconic hobbit houses (fantasy reading room), the Star Wars film and book universe (science-fiction reading room), the comic book and film series about the adventures of Indiana Jones (adventure-novel reading room), noir cinema and literature (crime-novel reading room).

Technické informace

The scope of the project included creating a model space of the building along with its interior, an exterior integration plaza, and the design of furnishings such as seating, furniture serving functions including bookshelves, and selected lighting elements. The project was executed using Archicad (primary 3D model and technical documentation), Blender (visualisations), and Photoshop (image editing and presentation boards).

The work consists of producing technical documentation including architectural details, a 3D model, exterior and interior visualisations of the building, final presentation boards, and a written thesis addressing the project’s thematic issues.
