RENOVATION OF THE ZAHRADKY CASTLE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Idea projektu

The aim of the project is to transform the castle premises into spaces that the
university, in cooperation with the municipality of Záhradky and the Liberec Region,
could use as a conference centre, including residential premises, a municipal
information centre and a leisure centre.
The castle renovation project aims to modernise the existing castle complex in the
context of the historical environment. The environment must be transformed in
such a way that the needs of modern people are taken into account, combining the
old and the new in the project. The result is a synthesis of time periods, where the
architectural traditions of the designed building will not be violated.
The space is intended to be used not only by the university, but also by local
residents and tourists, which will allow it to become both a commercially effective
growth point and a symbol of the unification of history and modernity.

The reconstruction project of the Zahradky castle and its territory is a set of solutions aimed at modernizing the territory and introducing additional functions into it.
The concept of the park territory is based on the idea of ​​a "grass garden" as the most delicate method of working with architectural heritage. This method of working with the landscape allows you to diversify the visual range and attract new visitors due to its uniqueness and simplicity, while maintaining the identity of the space. It is also proposed to use temporary or permanent exhibitions (art objects) in the park. This solution will allow you to freely transform the space without harming the view of the park.
Due to the loss of some visual views on the castle, it was decided to build pedestrian paths with rises above the main mass of greenery in the park. This will open up new views of the castle.
Due to the loss of the original roof of the castle, it was decided to use its proportions and appearance to develop a new glass roof. This will refresh the appearance of the castle, as well as embody the idea of ​​​​the synthesis of history and modernity in its understanding. The choice of glass in this case is due to the simplicity, originality and practicality of the solution. Thanks to the translucent properties, the image of the new roof will not interfere with the overall pleasant castle. For variety, a suspended translucent fabric structure with ceiling lighting was added to the roof structure. Thus, it will create diffused light, emphasizing the uniqueness of the structure. The internal solution was designed in such a way as to ensure minimal impact on this castle. Decor is usually used for this. Thanks to the use of solutions that do not require complex installation work, the space of the castle can be constantly updated without losing its relevance over a certain period of time.

Technické informace

The roof structure is made of an aluminum or steel frame, with tempered glass filling. An additional frame for a suspended fabric structure, as well as LED lights, is mounted inside the roof.
