Idea projektu

Sometimes nature itself becomes the very force that harms it, and humans — as part of nature — are both its greatest threat and, paradoxically, the species that loves and reveres it the most.

After every natural disaster, any loss is a sorrow. When we made the first sketches for this project, we were sitting in a warm room while outside, winds raged at levels 17, 18 on the scale, tearing down countless trees — some of which would never again cast their shade.

Faced with that scene, all we could do was stand and watch from afar.

In Hanoi alone, out of more than 40,000 fallen trees, efforts could only save around 3,000 — a small and humbling number. We love and respect nature, and we have come to realize that the death of tens of thousands of trees is not an end, but rather a continuation of life. These fallen trees will form the foundation for other species, for small ecosystems that will grow upon them — and thus, life carries on.

This is true for trees, for animals, and even more so for humans.

Understanding that death is merely a part of life's continuation, that disasters are natural consequences, and seeing beauty even in falling — this allows people to calmly accept and face any hardship. We believe this life philosophy should be directly or indirectly passed on to people from the time they are young children.

Popis projektu

CHU TREE RÀNH RÀNH was born. We want to gather the broken, fallen trunks and branches left behind after storms, and repurpose them into a playground for children. Here, in the green park, children can interact not only with living trees but also with the full cycle of life. They will see the wooden logs slowly decaying day by day, the bark peeling away to reveal worms and crickets making their homes, and the earth gradually reclaiming the dead wood into its soil.

We hope that, through this, children can come close to, engage with, and understand — even just a little — the natural cycle of life.

Technické informace

CHU TREE RÀNH RÀNH features 31 play structure assemblies themed around natural disasters, divided into four levels of interaction: Stillness, Resting, Wandering, and Frolicking.

Through interacting with these play structures — designed to evoke sensations similar to facing a storm — children not only experience joy and excitement, but also gain a sense of what it feels like for those who have truly confronted the force of a storm firsthand.

We hope that, by playing here, they will learn to remain calm and smile brightly even when faced with the real challenges in their own lives.
