Isblomstens sang.Floating sauna in the Norwegian Nerei Fjord

Полина Трунова

Idea projektu

Isblomstens sang -from Norwegian - The Song of the Ice Flower.Ice flowers are a natural phenomenon in which shapes with sharp petals resembling flowers form on the surface of the ice. They consist of the thinnest plates of ice with veins.
The cause is a sudden and very sharp drop in ambient temperature. In order for flowers to "bloom" on the ice surface, its layer must be very thin, and the ice temperature must be about 0 ° C, while the air temperature must be below -20 ° C. Meteorologists call complete calm, that is, absolutely windless weather, another important criterion for the occurrence of ice colors.
Ice flowers are short-lived: As soon as the weather conditions change or the ice layer becomes thicker, they disappear without a trace.
The idea of the project is to convey the shape of this natural phenomenon by creating an ice flower that will never melt.

Popis projektu

An important part of the project is the environmental aspect. The main building material is thermal wood and recycled plastic. Thermal wood is more resistant to rot, mold and insects. Its strength and durability are also higher than that of ordinary wood.
The shape is inspired by an ice flower. The sauna is a multifaceted structure resembling a complex crystal, a flower made of several connected ice crystals. The color is snow white. Due to its shape and color scheme, the sauna fits particularly harmoniously into the winter landscapes of the Nerejfjord.
Entering the sauna, we immediately find ourselves in a spacious hall. On the right side there is a pilot's room and a warehouse, on the left there is a recreation area.
Going downstairs, we are greeted by 2 toilets with showers, then a lounge, 2 changing rooms and a steam room. The lobby and steam room offer stunning views of the beauty of the fjord.

Technické informace

The main structure of the sauna consists of thermal wood, and the exterior finishing work is made of recycled plastic.Sheep's wool, a natural, environmentally friendly material, is used for thermal insulation.
The windows are made of environmentally friendly, opaque thermal glass to maximize heat and sunlight retention.
Low-power LED lamps are used for lighting.
The water supply and sanitation system is implemented thanks to a multi-stage water filtration system using natural filters: sand, gravel and plants.
Wastewater is processed using biofilters, separate collection systems, rainwater collections and a compost toilet. The biofilter is designed for wastewater treatment using plants that absorb pollutants.
Separate collection of "gray" (water from the shower and washbasin) and "black" (water from the toilet) water for more efficient cleaning.
Collecting rainwater for technical needs (for example, for watering plants or flushing the toilet).Using a compost toilet to minimize water consumption and create compost.
All these aspects combined will make it possible to create a floating sauna that will not only be comfortable and functional, but can also become an example of a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution, combining comfort with respect for the environment. And the sauna design will not only attract attention with its aesthetic appearance, but will also become a place for relaxation and recuperation, allowing people to enjoy the beauty of nature in a unique atmosphere.
