Idea projektu

The goal of the project is to create a small-scale, sustainable cultural facility located by the Nowa Huta Reservoir in Kraków. The building is intended to complement the cultural infrastructure of the district of Nowa Huta by offering an inclusive and accessible space for social integration, education, and recreation. The design emphasizes respect for the natural environment—both through the use of pro-ecological solutions and by preserving the existing tree coverage. The main objective is to support local cultural development while minimizing environmental impact and enhancing the aesthetic and social value of the space.

Popis projektu

The building is designed as a single-story wooden structure with a mezzanine and a usable area of up to 1,000 m². The functional program includes a multifunctional hall, reading room, children's zone, café, and an administrative section. At the heart of the building is a rain garden located in an atrium, which collects water from the sloping roof surfaces—serving both an ecological function and creating an intimate, inward-facing space. The form of the building has been adapted to the arrangement of existing trees, minimizing environmental impact. The exposed wooden structure and detailed timber elements on the façades are an integral part of the building’s architectural expression.
