The planning site is located on the underutilized periphery of two city blocks, on the border of Kőbánya and Ferencváros, on both sides of Üllői út, close to the Ecseri út stop.
One of the means of renewing outdated fixed rail systems is to adapt them to the changed urban environment and transfer possibilities. This will involve rebuilding and adding new track pairs to the Southern circular railway and creating new stations. One such new station and sub-centre could be the area around the future Népliget railway station.
Our aim was to create a transfer possibility between the railway and the metro. Appropriate functions, buildings and outdoor spaces have been designed around the interchange. Safe and convenient pedestrian public spaces, shops, service facilities and accommodation and housing have been designed.
The aim of the plan was to create a sustainable and liveable urban district around Ecseri road. The planning area was formerly industrial and is now derelict, but has excellent transport links.
The focus of the project was on mixing functions and enhancing community spaces. A hotel, market, office buildings, residential buildings, dormitories and a sports centre will form the mixed-use development.
The spatial structure is organised by green axes and transport links. The quality of public spaces and human-scale design were essential. The plan places emphasis on strengthening social links and promoting community life. We wanted to create clear, transparent spaces and active streetscapes.
Sustainability is ensured through solar panels, green roofs, stormwater tanks and central ventilation systems.
