Idea projektu

The idea of the project stems from the growing need for dynamic, inclusive, and adaptable public gathering spaces in contemporary urban settings. In a time where cultural exchange, innovation, and collaboration are more important than ever, there is a pressing need to create a new kind of convention center — one that is not just a venue, but an experience.

Inspired by the fluid movement of water and the organic flow of people, Fluid Symphony addresses this need by reimagining the convention center as a space that mirrors the rhythm of human interaction. Just as a droplet of water dances through air and disperses on contact, this design reflects the dispersion of people, ideas, and events in a fluid, engaging manner.

The concept was also inspired by the coastal context of the site and the predominant wind direction flowing from northeast to southwest. These natural forces became the foundation for a form that splash-structures itself across the site horizontally and rises dynamically like a droplet bursting upward. The project envisions a place where architecture and movement harmonize — a symphony of spatial fluidity that encourages people to come together, connect, and be inspired.

Popis projektu

Set within a 53,412 m² coastal urban site, Fluid Symphony is a convention center conceived as a landmark for cultural exchange and communal convergence. It is designed to reflect the fluid, ever-evolving nature of gatherings — allowing people, ideas, and events to flow through the space seamlessly.

The horizontal planning takes inspiration from the pattern of a droplet dispersing on a surface, guiding the spatial zoning from northeast to southwest in harmony with the prevailing wind. Public zones such as auditoriums, exhibition spaces, and meeting halls are arranged in a linear splash sequence, connected by curvilinear corridors that encourage discovery and openness.

The vertical massing captures the energy of a water droplet splashing upwards — resulting in sculptural forms that curve, swell, and taper as if frozen in mid-air. These forms are wrapped in a translucent ETFE skin, which allows natural light to filter in gently, creating a luminous and immersive interior environment.

A steel exoskeletal frame, inspired by the microscopic texture of a crab shell, gives the building both strength and symbolic relevance to its marine surroundings. Around the built mass, Japanese landscaping offers stillness and reflection, complementing the building’s expressive movement with calming natural textures.

The design is not just aesthetic — it is responsive, contextual, and functional, aimed at creating a multi-sensory, iconic convention space for the city.
