Idea projektu

The concept of the entire design is divided into three buildings. The largest structure is located on the eastern side of the site, adjacent to a busy road, naturally forming a noise barrier for the rest of the complex. This building includes a multifunctional sports court, a gym with a reception area, a café, and a sauna world. It thus serves as a sports and leisure center.
The remaining two smaller buildings on the site serve the needs of paddlers during sporting events and training. The southern building provides facilities, dispatch, and technical equipment for water rescuers. The northern building is designed for maneuver training in an indoor pool, offers canoeing lessons, and provides facilities for club members.
The pool’s technical basement is connected to underground garages, which also serve as a service access point to the building. The garages are designated for visitor parking, with car access provided from Pisárecká Street.
The exterior is designed as a small square surrounded by a park. Paved areas and walkways run throughout the site, creating an easily accessible network that invites exploration. The central feature is an outdoor skatepark, surrounded by extensive greenery.
Other elements of small-scale architecture include an outdoor multifunctional workout zone, raised seating planters, and a small amphitheater in the northern part of the site.
The entire design is a synthesis of ideas aimed at creating a space for social events, sports, and recreation, as well as for simply relaxing by the river — all made possible within a suburban environment.

Popis projektu

The paddlers' building is a single-story structure with a raised section and a partially underground basement. The façade is composed of wooden cladding combined with white plaster. Windows and doors are made of wood-aluminum frames with triple-glazed insulating glass. Sheet metal elements are specified in RAL 1015 color. The structural system is a hybrid of cast-in-place and prefabricated components, with the monolithic reinforced concrete part serving the pool area. At the same time, the private section is constructed from CLT (cross-laminated timber) panels. Both cast-in-place and prefabricated ceilings are used. Due to the high groundwater level and sandy soil, a slab foundation was selected. Heating is provided by a heat pump, and a ventilation unit with heat recovery is also considered. The building is designed to meet modern standards for low energy consumption, reflected in its technical equipment and systems.
The water rescue station is a single-story building with a slight variation in flat roof heights. The façade combines ventilated larch wood cladding with white plaster. Openings are filled with wood-aluminum frames and triple-glazed insulating glass. Sheet metal elements are also in RAL 1015. The load-bearing structure is made of CLT panels and rests on a reinforced concrete slab, which also serves as the ceiling of the underground garage beneath. A heat pump is used for heating.
The structural system of the sports and leisure center consists of a reinforced concrete frame extending from the underground garages. The frame supports the reinforced concrete ceiling and flat roof, which form the building’s cover. The exterior walls are made of prefabricated sandwich concrete panels. The façade features a combination of exposed concrete and larch wood cladding with a protective finish. Openings are filled with wood-aluminum frames in RAL 3012, fitted with triple-glazed insulating glass.

Technické informace

The architecture of the paddlers' building consists of connected rectangular volumes, with a raised central section housing the indoor pool. Apart from this height difference, the building is single-story throughout. Located in the northern part of the site, the structure is divided into public and private zones.

The public zone features the main entrance hall, which includes administrative offices and public restrooms. A stairway to the basement provides access for facility management. From the hall, visitors can access the paddling changing rooms, which include sanitary facilities and drying rooms for storing wetsuits. These changing rooms serve users of the indoor pool and paddling trainees. The pool area is complemented by a boathouse (separated by a sliding wall) and workshops for minor boat repairs.

The private zone is also connected to the entrance hall and includes the paddlers' clubhouse with a kitchenette, sanitary facilities, laundry room, and utility room. The clubhouse includes an office and access to a terrace. These private spaces can be used for events or rented out, as they include three accommodation rooms with shared bathroom facilities.

The water rescue station consists of a long rectangular building with a flat roof, located just south of the paddlers' building. It provides facilities for water rescue operations, including a dispatch room, changing rooms with sanitary facilities, and a garage for rescue vehicles. Some parts of the building are designed for rental, either for private use or as additional rescue facilities. These include a main room with a kitchenette and two adjoining rooms with shared restrooms. The western end of the building is a separate unit serving as the site manager’s facilities, including an office, a lounge with sanitary amenities, and a workshop for equipment maintenance and storage.

The sports and leisure center has an L-shaped footprint and is divided into four functional zones. The northern part, serving as a sports hall, is the only section that exceeds the height of the flat roofs in the rest of the building. The main entrance is from the north, via the central area of the site. From the entrance hall—equipped with public restrooms and vertical circulation from the underground garage—users can access the sports hall, which includes facilities for athletes and coaches. It supports various sporting events and allows for spectator attendance.

Also accessible from the entrance hall are the gym and café. The gym offers multifunctional sports facilities with extensive equipment. Besides changing rooms and sanitary areas for visitors, it includes staff and maintenance areas. The gym can be entered from both the entrance hall and the southern part of the site.

The café in the northern section is accessible from the entrance hall and, during the summer, through glazed façades. It serves coffee and light refreshments from a prep area that is part of the café’s back-of-house facilities.

Two entrance halls connect the leisure and wellness areas. The first is the main entrance hall, and the second leads to the sauna world, which is divided into three zones. The first zone includes a reception with staff facilities, a waiting area, and three massage rooms. The second zone contains wellness areas with a vitamin bar, cooling showers, whirlpools, saunas, and toilets. The third zone offers outdoor spaces with a cold plunge pool and relaxation area, usable year-round, including for winter cold therapy.
