The subject of the proposal is a new urban concept for the area in Prague Bubenč, specifically in the former industrial complex on Papírenská Street. From the new urban design, one specific building was selected and developed as the main theme of the presented work. This building is located on the newly created square and stands opposite the former wastewater treatment plant. The building responds to this structure as well as to the cardinal directions and the fact that there is a busy railway on the southern side. The building reflects the industrial character of the transformed area, while at the same time elevating the former workshop functions to a level of technical advancement that corresponds to the present day. Thus, the building closes off the square and simultaneously creates a barrier against the busy railway.

From a technical perspective, it is essentially a multi-story steel hall clad with a lightweight exterior envelope, supplemented by double skins on the northern and southern sides. The building is heated by a ground-source heat pump (earth-to-water), which distributes heat through underfloor convectors located around the building’s perimeter. The heating system is complemented by electric mats arranged in strips placed in the central areas of the layout. The dominant elements on the facade are steel structures clad with stainless steel sheets.
