The core concept of this design was to create a winery that offers visitors not only an experience of wine production and tasting, but also a space for cultural and social events, thus enhancing the attractiveness of the location. This idea is supported by the creation of a central atrium with amphitheater seating and an adjacent terrace on the second floor, offering impressive views of the surrounding landscape. The winery thus provides a unique atmosphere for evening gatherings with wine, complemented by various cultural activities. The architectural expression of the building is inspired by the horizontal character typical of winery typology. The concept is emphasized by two dominant horizontal lines — a cantilevered flat roof and a raised platform on which the building is set. These lines, highlighted also through color, reinforce the linearity of the structure and naturally guide visitors toward the main entrance.
LINÉA Winery is located near Malacká Road, on the edge of the town of Pezinok, in a wine-growing region surrounded by private vineyards and natural scenery. The site is accessible by car and public transport, with main entrances for visitors and deliveries from the south, and additional access for employees and pedestrians from the north. The surrounding landscape includes meadows, overgrown land, and views of the Small Carpathian Mountains.
The building is positioned on the site to optimize its shape and size while respecting the orientation to access roads. The main entrance faces south, accessible from the parking lot via an elevated platform along the eastern boundary. The mass consists of two parts: a dominant horizontal volume and a two-story elongated prism that serves as an architectural accent. A key feature is the cantilevered roof on the first floor and the raised platform, guiding visitors toward the entrance. At the center of the building is a large atrium with amphitheater-style seating and a stage. From there, visitors can access a terrace on the second floor. The winery is divided into two zones: the production area to the south and the visitor area to the north. The building has two above-ground floors and one underground level. The roof of the first floor features an intensive green roof, which provides ecological benefits and enhances the building's integration into the landscape.
The facade uses brown-gray brick cladding, with exposed concrete on the flat roof and base platform. The accent part reaching the second floor features light gray brick. Exhibition rooms with glazing are located along the eastern and southern facades by the access ramp, showcasing design wine barrels to welcome visitors. The underground level contains production and storage areas, cellars for stainless steel and barrique barrels, fermentation and maturation halls, technical rooms, a small archive, and a tasting room. Floors are connected by two double-flight staircases and three elevators, two of which serve the production zone. The first floor includes a restaurant, wine shop, and administrative offices. The second floor hosts a large tasting room, bar, and exhibition space, accessible also from the exterior amphitheater seating. The central rectangular atrium is the main feature, offering a versatile space for cultural and social events as well as unique wine tastings.
The building is founded on a reinforced concrete slab 500 mm thick, approximately 6.5 meters deep. The underground floor uses a skeletal load-bearing system composed of reinforced concrete columns with a diameter of 300 mm. The skeleton is combined with a load-bearing wall system, which is also used on the 1st and 2nd floors. The thickness of the winery’s perimeter walls, made of ceramic brick, is 300 mm, with an external insulation layer 200 mm thick and a brick facade cladding 120 mm thick. Thus, the total thickness of the perimeter wall is approximately 650 mm. Internal load-bearing walls are 300 mm thick, while partition walls range from 100 to 200 mm thick. The ceiling structures are reinforced concrete with a thickness of 250 mm, with the total thickness of the ceiling between the underground and first floor being 570 mm. Above the 1st floor, there are roof layers with an intensive green roof 1000 mm thick, and above the 2nd floor, there is a roof 800 mm thick. Floors on all levels have a thickness of 150 mm, except for the underground floor, which has a zero-layer cast floor.
