Idea projektu

The idea of this project is to address the increasing traffic congestion, urban sprawl, and disjointed mobility networks in Dubai caused by rapid development and car-centric planning. Inspired by the city’s ambition to become a global model for smart and sustainable urbanism, this project proposes a multi-modal transit hub integrating high-speed train, metro, bus, taxi, cyclist, pedestrian, and future mobility systems into one cohesive and efficient node. Being a gateway to the city, the hub aims at mitigating traffic and acts as an urban integrator; binding together neighborhoods, promoting public transit, and creating high-quality public spaces for socializing, environmental consciousness, and a more human-oriented urban experience.

Popis projektu

The project consists of three main parts:

A Transit Core that connects the different transit modes in three floor levels (basement, ground floor, and first floor) with supporting facilities and an Open Plaza designed for seamless transfers and efficient passenger flow.

A Mobility Museum featuring a gallery focusing on transportation with open working spaces, auditorium, seminar, and rentable offices.

A Leisure Zone that involves a conservatory with commercial, cultural, and leisure spaces to activate daily life and encourage pedestrian movement.

The project features multi-functional spaces and dynamic public areas to serve commuters, residents, tourists, and workers and thereby enriching daily life while encouraging sustainable movement and urban cohesion.

Technické informace

The structure of this project involves lightweight steel space frame structure acting as a canopy that is supported by steel brackets sitting on the ground. The slanting curtain walls are supported by members that extends to the concrete foundation. A stack ventilation method is utilized with openings in the space frame as well as the curtain wall ends. The glass further has solar cells integrated (BIPV) to utilize the location's heat.
