The concept originates in the heart of the picturesque expanses of the Leningrad region, where the northern forests still whisper ancient tales, and the Sosnovka River flows through the green expanses with a silver ribbon. This unique multifunctional territory will become an embodiment of ancient legends and tales of “Kalevala”, which tells about the exploits of heroes, as well as about the mythical land itself, which is reflected in the names of functional zones.
This concept like a thread weaves together the rich heritage of the Karelian-Finnish epic and the mysterious symbolism of runes, creating a space where the past meets the present.

The layout is based on the runes, which represent man's deep connection to nature, as well as his inner world and spiritual quest.

Each zone has its own unique design and functional purpose, reflecting the spirit of the heroes of “Kalevala” and the traditions of the northern peoples.

Residential zone
The residential zone called Kalevala Valley is located in the most picturesque place - near Lake Olhovets. It provides a wide range of accommodation and recreation for tourists. There are several types of eco-houses, two hotels. By the lake itself there is a zone for seasonal camping. And the Hospitality Center welcomes guests, offering leisure services.
The visual appearance of the area is inspired by the traditional architecture of the region, characterized by the use of wood, high roofs and carved elements.

Cultural and Spa
The Heart of Traditions cultural zone hosts lectures on the culture and traditions of the Karelian-Finnish people.
There is a museum, a library and a small open-air observatory.

The health zone The Edge of Life-giving Power is a harmonious combination of nature and architecture. It is an ideal place to regain strength and harmony. Visually, the spa refers to the image of the blue stone, which in the culture has magical powers and can be used for healing.

Entertainment
Ilmarinen's entertainment area or artisan valley offers a variety of activities for all ages. It hosts a fair where crafts and delicacies can be purchased. Workshops offer visitors the chance to try their hand at traditional crafts such as pottery and weaving. The blacksmith's shop invites you to master classes in blacksmithing.

Sports
The sports zone is divided into two parts: active recreation and quiet pastime. In the active zone there is a rope town and platforms that allow you to test your strength and agility and feel like a hero of an epic for a while. The quiet zone includes walking and bicycle paths, as well as pavilions for yoga, fitness and Pilates classes.

Natural Park Zone
The recreational zone or the Valley of Spirits includes a picturesque landscape park with cozy gazebos and the Sampo mill from the Kalevala epic. In the center is a natural promenade creating an atmosphere of tranquility and privacy. An apothecary garden with medicinal herbs near the wellness area provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with natural healing remedies and enjoy the harmony of nature.

Technické informace

The modular grid underlying the project opens up a wide range of opportunities for harmonious development of the territory. In the future it will be possible to create new functional zones, add objects and buildings. The flexibility of the system will be an important advantage in terms of economic efficiency of the project.

The multifunctional territory in Sosnovo settlement is a space where everyone will find a response to their dreams and aspirations.
Inspired by “Kalevala”, this territory will become a symbol of the unity of man with nature, the past with the present, a new myth of our time - the myth of love for nature and culture.
