Idea projektu

The idea of this project is to address the cultural and environmental challenges posed by sea-level rise and urban development. The aim is to create a resilient museum that preserves Alexandria's heritage while adapting to environmental changes. The museum will foster cultural awareness and community engagement, while also being a model for sustainable architecture.

Popis projektu

This project consists of the following parts: A central conical exhibition space symbolizing resilience, with surrounding areas focused on preserving cultural artifacts and heritage. The museum will feature several exhibition halls, including sections on Alexandria’s submerged heritage, crafts & heritage, and maritime legacy. It will include artisan workshops, marketplace spaces, and interactive learning zones, all designed to engage the local community and visitors. Elevated zones will protect the space from rising sea levels, with a focus on transparency and natural lighting.

Technické informace

The construction of the building is made of sustainable materials, ensuring resilience to the coastal climate. The structure features a large conical truss system to support the central exhibition hall. The façade incorporates both transparent and opaque panels, optimizing natural lighting while minimizing heat gain. The design also integrates passive cooling systems and utilizes local materials to ensure sustainability and context sensitivity.
