Idea projektu

VITA is a vibrant community eco center where every young person feels inspired and energized to achieve their full life potential. The form of the project mass is inspired by the shape of the Ukrainian letter Ge (Ґ, ґ), as a temporarily disappearing native letter that came back after the relief from the occupying culture in 1990. The letter Ge (Ґ, ґ) is also the first letter in the word (ґрунт – soil), which stands for ‘roots’. Therefore, the letter Ge (Ґ, ґ) can be considered a symbol of both Ukrainian cultural resilience and the spirit of holding to one’s roots. From this perspective, an internal climbing area is added—on the right-hand section—as a main part of the project, and its walls are perforated with the letter Ge (Ґ) as a light source in the interior. In this way, the design merges this symbolic form with the dynamic sport of climbing, widely favored in Ukraine, reflecting the constant endeavor to rise, strive, and overcome challenges.

Technické informace

The building features a robust timber frame structure, utilizing a locally affordable and sustainable construction material. The exterior is cladded with limestone, offering a durable, naturally aesthetically pleasing, and low-maintenance facade. Rockwool insulation is integrated within the timber frame, ensuring thermal and acoustic performance due to its high-density, non-combustible, and moisture-resistant properties. This combination of materials will result in a building that is environmentally conscious, energy-efficient, and built to last. The building incorporates a green roof for improved thermal regulation and stormwater management. The building also incorporates light pipes for natural daylighting and double glazing to minimize heat loss and gain.
