Idea projektu

This project is designed for 400 students from 13-18 and teachers. n the early stage of the design, we conducted some investigations on the traditional settlements in Africa. Among them, we were particularly interested in the Tangjia settlement. We extended the core idea of this settlement, which takes an open space as the core node and divides each village with roads to form a ring-shaped and cell-like settlement into our design.

Popis projektu

The design includes teaching areas, accommodation areas, a-ctivity areas, and other living areas. In this design, we take the outdoor assembly square as the core node, and the buildings and roads are arranged in concentric rings within the site. The inner circle is the design core, including the teaching area composed of eight teaching units and two practical education buildings, teachers' offices, an indoor assembly hall and a rammed earth grandstand. The outer circle is the student accommodation area, the laboratory building area, the beekeeping area and the playground. The inner and outer circles are separated by roads, allowing vehicles and people to circulate around them.

Technické informace

Considering the local climate conditions, we chose a double-layer roof structure. The wide roof supported by trusses ensures that hot air can be discharged from the upper side, making it easier for the side enclosure and the roof to connect. At the same time, the large roof provides a rich space of shade for the users. Through the forum, we learned that the local water resources are scarce and precious. Therefore, we adopted sloping roofs and set up small water tanks, which increased the utilization rate of water resources and reduced the school's daily water consumption.

Overall building materials selecation:(1)ICEB. The interlocking cement earth blocks that have already been used locally ,have a lower cost and are relatively stable. (2)Aluminum plate roof. It features light weight and high strength. Meanwhile, it has a good water-blocking effect and is easy to install. (3)Concrete load-bearing structure. Used for load-bearing in dormitories and other buildings.By adopting a brick-concrete structure, concrete has multiple uses,reducing the types of materials. (4)Hollow steel. 100x100mm and 300x300mm. Two sizes of steel are used respectively for the load-bearing columns of the roof and the trusses, which are very stable.
