Idea projektu

This project was born from a spatial necessity—to weave together three institutional anchors of Ferizaj: the Courthouse, the Police Station, and the Fire Department. The bank emerges not as a standalone building, but as the architectural seam that stitches these bodies into one continuous civic fabric. Through careful orientation, openness, and a public plaza that flows between them, the bank becomes a unifying agent—transforming functional adjacency into meaningful urban choreography. It is architecture as connective tissue: blending jurisdiction, protection, and public service into a shared narrative of transparency and belonging.

Popis projektu

This architectural intervention comprises a multi-level structure with clearly articulated public and institutional functions:

Basement -2: Technical and service spaces, with discreet logistic access.
Basement -1: High-security zones, financial archives, ECB-S compliant vaults.
Ground Floor: A civic lobby, reception, community auditorium, and multipurpose event space.
First Floor: Client services and mid-level staff offices.
Second Floor: Executive offices facing institutional buildings to establish visual dialogue.
Third Floor: A panoramic restaurant and bar, inviting citizens to the highest point of the building.
Vertical galleries ensure daylight penetration, air circulation, and spatial transparency. The exterior plaza extends the city into the building, acting as a democratic threshold—a place where everyone is welcome.

Technické informace

The structural system is a hybrid combination of glulam timber, steel, and reinforced concrete. The underground levels are supported by a robust concrete-steel system, while the upper floors are defined by expressive timber engineering.
Two main timber systems are used:
Diagrid structure: Composed of diagonally intersecting beams to ensure open, column-free interiors.
K-braced frame: Localized structural reinforcement against lateral forces, seamlessly integrated within the wooden elements.
Glass façades allow natural daylight to animate the space throughout the day. Artificial lighting works in harmony with this system, transforming the building into an “urban lantern” at night. The external wooden staircase acts as a symbol of civic access and collective ascent, expressing the project’s ideological core: openness and upward mobility.
