Idea projektu

The theme of the assignment was the design of a new "Parohatá" building, which will be located in roughly the same position as the existing building and will serve as an operational facility for the staff of the Department of Ungulates of Brno Zoo. Equipment requirements: a day room (kitchen with fridge and microwave, washing machine, workstation with PC), changing rooms with a sufficient number of lockers, sanitary facilities (shower and toilet), cleaning room, tool storage and dry food store.

Popis projektu

URBAN CONTEXT
The area is located in the cadastral territory of the Brno-Bystrc district. The zoo plot is located in the peripheral part of the area in a sloping terrain, which is sloping towards the east. The proposed building is located in the northern part of the zoo site between the enclosures of: ibexes, wapiti, takini, reindeers and elkes.

ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTION
The basic concept is based on the desire to partially hide the building under the slope. This will not only hide the building from the eyes of visitors, but also increase the space for easier communication and turning of vehicles.
The building itself is divided into two separate units. The hayloft building will be built on the site of the existing building and the backroom building itself will stand on the site where the temporary hayloft and container are currently located. The roof of the hinterland building will house a root water treatment plant.

LAYOUT
The layout is based on the individual standards for certain functional units. The building, as already mentioned, is divided into two separate buildings. The larger of the two serves as a staff facility. The back office is one storey with two entrances, the main one and a secondary one from an outdoor covered terrace. There is a vestibule with the possibility of removing outerwear, which is connected to a corridor that connects the rest of the rooms of the building. There are also ladies' and gents' toilets, ladies' and gents' locker rooms, from which there is only access to the showers, a utility room and a day room. The day room has an L-shaped floor plan which divides it into a dining area and a working area.
The smaller building serves as a hayloft and tool storage and feed preparation area. The hayloft area is not closed by any doors to facilitate communication with the hay and tools.

Technické informace

The main vertical structural system is made of Porotherm system. The ceiling is made of monolithic reinforced concrete slab. The perimeter system consists of 200 mm masonry and 300 mm thermal insulation. The materials used on the building are solid burnt bricks, glass, dark oak wood and light grey stucco facade plaster.
