Idea projektu

And the new trends emerging from the city attract the youth to more conventional job opportunities risking the future of the plantation industry. Marginalization of the community mainly occurs due to the lack of potential in terms of education skills and talents. Lack of infrastructure as tools, health facilities, technology and exposal create a vulnerable community in a rapidly developing city and globalizing economy.

Popis projektu

The project is an attempt to enhance the lifestyle of the most important community in Avissawella. The rubber plantation industry almost depends on these people yet their housing and the built environment are not encouraging. And with the new normal situation, survivability and adaptability have become the key factors of the built environment. The design process, therefore, explores the use of incremental housing methods which are adapted to the specific needs of the community, occupation and context.

Technické informace

The form of the house will reflect the needs of the user. The modular system will allow the user to gradually develop the house. The construction process is kept as simple as possible to reduce the need for specialized labour and easy maintenance. And this will also allow the unit to be repurposed for different needs in the future. The unit has four main components. In the modular structure, the ground floor is made out of permanent+temporary material and the first floor is made out of temporary material and the modular roof structure. The temporary parts of the envelope and partitions can be recycled within the house even with other houses due to the modular nature.
