Idea projektu

The Dome is a fully autonomous and portable cabin concept.
With a vision of future tourism, the Dom is designed to temporarily provide luxury living in an exclusive natural environment.
Located at Baikal lake in middle Siberia, Russia, the cabin provides a luxury experience for up to 5 months where one can be at the mid of the season changes.
From Late winter to mid-summer, with freezing -20 and up to +30 degrees, in one of the most challenging environments on earth, the Dome provides 360 degrees panoramic view of the surroundings with maximum possible comfort that includes even a sauna for up to two persons.
This cabin allows users to temporary stay at one of the most stunning places on earth, with experience from up close, thus providing a new way of tourism that was never possible before.

Popis projektu

A local natural phenomenon inspired the shape of the cabin. From the outside, the cabin is mirrored and fully integrated with the environment, while from the inside, it gives a 360 degrees view with a minimal design to avoid distractions.

Technické informace

Aeroplanes and yacht designs inspire the structure design. The Dome is fully transportable by helicopter or can be separated into parts and transported by train with a fast and easy on-site assembly.
The gap between the two skins, the internal and external, provides air insulation to cope with extreme temperatures. the inner skin is fully transparent while the outer skin is one way mirrored to reflect the bright sun.

The energy to the cabin is provided by a detached unit. The unit can be temporary or permanent and operates on wind power. Two units are enough to provide full power electricity to one cabin with batteries that can last up to 3 days without any wind. the design for the D.E.U (detached energy unit) is inspired by local native traditions of tieing ribbons to poles to gift the spirits (also wind in the local language.)
Detaching the energy unit from the cabin gives an enormous advantage over similar cabins. It makes the manufacturing process cheaper and simpler, keeps the cabin lightweight, and gives the option to place the cabin in an area with infrastructure without spending on an unwanted built-in energy unit.
