Idea projektu

The terraced waterfront city welcomes citizens of all ages and backgrounds with connections to different neighborhoods divided by existing transportation infrastructure. New pedestrian pathways, welcoming entrances, and integrated transit allow the site to be easily accessible from near and far.
Public facilities such as museums, galleries, theatres, libraries, schools, duty-free markets, and the memorial park would be sites for social
connections. The housing units are scattered around the public spaces and
obtain higher accessibility and more convenient adjacency than typical residential neighborhoods. Playgrounds, sports fields, and open cafes situated on terraces would attract citizens to this daily magic of the greens.

Popis projektu

Implementing the automated port to the site requires less land use, less noise, and more efficiency, thus returning more public spaces to the people. With the automated new port of Beirut, this new district would act as a breathing point to the high industrialization of the port and the very dense city fabric of Beirut. Designed to cultivate a vibrant lifestyle for the locals. The large variety of public spaces with diverse activities would support all users’ physical and mental equity, aiming to reinforce shared experiences and forge new communal connections.Preserving the unique city language and culture for the locals.

Technické informace

1. BRING PEOPLE TO THE WATERFRONT
The initial aim is to design an energetic site to boost the injured city. Thus the site must be accessible and alluring to people from the city.
2. HARD TO ACCESS
The Beirut port has only one main pedestrian entrance. The waterfront and the city also have a height difference from 8m to 14m.
3. INSPIRATION BEIRUT CITY TOPOGRAPHY
Beirut’s building blocks are very densely allocated on the slopy land. The warmed earthy material is found mainly on the building blocks. Hence resulted in a solid and unique city fabric.
EXTENDING THE BEIRUT CITY
Terraced Waterfront following the city’s language, using the idea of “terraces” implemented as greeneries and walkways, this could efficiently increase the accessibility from the inner city to the Waterfront.

Preserving the local method of building and also the beirut city fabric appearance is our goal.
