Dammah is envisioned as a cultural landmark that bridges the gap between formal and informal music practices. Positioned in Port Fouad, it aims to celebrate local heritage while creating a dialogue with global narratives through music, performance, and education. The project addresses the need for a dedicated platform where the local artistic community can thrive, connect, and inspire new generations. By combining performance spaces, educational hubs, and public areas, Dammah fosters empowerment through culture, creativity, and inclusivity.
The project is organized around a layered spatial journey that begins with a public promenade — an open, accessible platform for gathering, informal performances, and cultural exchange. It leads into a covered public auditorium designed for spontaneous events and community interaction. The heart of the project is the main indoor auditorium, a flexible performance space equipped to host local and international productions. Adjacent to these is the music school, which includes classrooms, practice rooms, digital labs, and a library, serving as a continuous generator of artistic talent and dialogue. Together, these components create a civic and cultural landmark rooted in inclusivity, education, and expression.
The structure of the main upper mass is a self-supporting steel lattice system, clad in a GRC skin that is fixed to a lightweight chassis. Internally, the floors are designed as floating slabs, supported only by steel beams that are directly connected to the lattice structure without columns. The podium level is constructed using a Holedeck waffle slab system, achieving spans up to 16 meters and cantilevers reaching 8 meters.
