The New born- New life project is an interesting project especially in terms of concept and function. The idea of giving a vibrant life to a building that was previously abandoned is valid and good. There are however three concerns: the first is regarding the relation between the building and the surrounding landscape and the further built-up area; the building does not seem well integrated with both, the second is about the bulkiness of the building, and the third is regarding the high repetition of the elements within the facades. One suggestion that could help deal with these issues is to do a more of a spiral stepping form that begins with a lower level and as a visual continuation with the street and gradually the levels increase while circulating around the cylindrical shape.
It would also be interesting to better link the interior court with the outside landscape to make it more accessible, and to further develop its design in relation to the facades of the court.
The conceptual sketch is good and expressive!
I am sentimental about all the once vibrant, now abandoned buildings that hold the stories, the relationships of the people, the memories important to them, and today no one visits them.
The project area is located on a high slope of Vakhtang Gorgasali Street in Tbilisi, Georgia. This is an old parking ramp building that has been demolished.
Architecture can have a strong psycho-emotional impact on a person. I think that when a specific place, a specific form takes its place with dignity from time immemorial and it is destroyed all at once it has no positive effect on the human unconscious and since architecture is the most human art I decided to restore the constructive part of the old building and revitalize it.
"New Life" - the name of the project is associated with many of its new features.
The idea of its visual aspect is to escape from the "frames" and to set in motion. The first two floors are made up of columns and ridges absolutely monotonous and monotonous, as if the building of the first floors kept and was treated by the dogmas of the past, which it wants to demolish, and begins to move to the upper floors with a facade modern kinetics. With a facade that changes direction depending on the movement of the sun, although mechanical control is also possible.
Its visual appearance is also consistent with its functional solution.
On the first floor of the abandoned building of the old parking lot there will be a vintage car museum, on the second floor there will be spaces for architectural installations, and on the last three floors there will be modern co-working spaces, which are essential for young students.
Despite a very low slope of 1.3% of the ramp, the work rooms on the upper floors will be arranged in steps.
