Work description

The work offered is at Heidelberg Materials' Brevik CCS-project, which is the world biggest industrial scale carbon capture project at a cement plant. In short, we intendto reduce the CO2 emissions with 400.000 tonnes per year using a technology from the Norwegian company Aker Carbon Capture. The engineering phaseis finished and the construction phase is actively ongoing with planned mechanical completion in 2024.The work will be on our construction site at Brevik Plant as a Site assistant and the candidate will get an opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking projectwhich will shape the future of the cement industry in the years to come. The candidate will be able to get a first-hand and in-depth experience with cementproduction, carbon capture using the amine process and compression and storage of CO2.The intern will formally report to the Project Manager however will be reporting to one of the other managers on a daily basis – like the Site manager, Commissioning manager or one of the Process experts depending on qualification.Area of responsibility:• As general rule the responsibility will depend a lot on the profile of the candidate.• Safety is key; contribute to a safe construction site.• Assist with site coordination between contractors.• Assist with maintaining and logging data in the projects IT-systems (Interaxo etc.).• Assist project management/site management with ad-hoc tasks.• Be the Site managers eyes and ears on site.• Help internal supervisors from Heidelberg Materials' other offices in relation to visits to site.• Site inspections of progress, quality, and conformance to project requirements.• Document site progress using photo documentation (incl. drone footage).• Assist with preparation of minutes of meetings, memorandums and reports as required.• Assist with promotional activities related to the project and visit to the site by outside stakeholders.Heidelberg Materials Norway is the sole producer of cement in Norway, with plants in Brevik and Kjøpsvik and has a wide distribution network of terminals along Norway's coast.Please note that formally the intern will be hired in via Sweco in Porsgrunn, however the daily work will be at Heidelberg Materials in Brevik.Living in the Grenland area:The Grenland area is an industrial hub in Norway with several big process plants and a university campus belonging to University of South-Eastern Norway located in Porsgrunn - just 10 km away. The Porsgrunn/Brevik area is well connected with public transport and rail connections to Oslo running hourly. Porsgrunn hosts a limited cafe and nightlife, however is a fantastic place for outdoor people with beautiful fjords and mountains just outside the door.https://www.usn.no/english/about/campuses/porsgrunn/
