Stay Connected is based on a site at the boundary of a university campus and a residential area. The unique position enables the possibility of conncetion between people of different cultural and educational background. Such a characteristic can foster innovation, but also arouses potential conflicts between people with different lifestyles. The design aims to merge the gap between students on the campus and the neighboring residents, creating a welcoming and inclusive public space.

Inspired by the angular shape of the site, a winding padestrian street cuts through the site, shaping the gem like, polygonal building volumes. Padestrian streets from both sides lead to a central plaza, which is slightly lifted above ground and acts as an open, inclusive public space that encourages exchange and innovation. The plaza also divides the functional areas of a community center in the north and a cluster of youth hostels on the south. Entrances are allowed from all directions of the site to allow maximum accessibility, while ground floor spaces are reserved for amenities. The community center, as the centerpiece of the project, serves as a visual marker of the plaza, with rusted steel plates paying homage to the historic industrial facility to the east of the site. In the interior, a skylight divides the building into two sections, creating a campus like environment with staggered floors which are commonly seen in Herman Hertzberger's designs. The clustered buildings that form the youth hostel encloses a triangular plaza with wood finishes while providing public living rooms for residents inside.

The building is a eeinforced concrete structure with steel elements supporting the polygonal structures.
