Parametric Architecture & Design

To me, architecture is not merely an art of creating beautiful buildings. It is the context, both cultural and social, as well as social and environmental responsiveness that makes or breaks it. 

Focused on the very essence of inclusion and accessibility of urban fabrics to people all ages, colours, abilities and gender. Focused on the colourful architectural prospect which manifests itself over the face of our cities through accessible and inclusive design.

Mr. Rien Tan Kwon Chong is a full time project architect and a part-time travel blogger. Rien graduated with honors from UCSI Univesity (bachelor Degree in Architecture) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Master in Architecture) in year 2013 & 2015. Upon graduating, he travelled to Osaka, Taipei & New York where he worked with architecture firms to take up challenges on future residences and offices design. In Year 2016, he emerged as the winner for Asian Young Designer Award, beating 11 other participants from other Asian countries. In year 2018, Rien has been shortlisted as the Top 50 finalist in the International Inspirelli Design Award.  Rien is now based in KL focusing on high-rise design in W Design Associates. His passion towards architectural field and the society were spread through his design studio namely Rien Atelier and the other public sharing session.

We are all a part of nature, what we take from nature needs to be returned back in a sustainable manner, it is challenging and we needs to be sensitive and also design towards that. Depending on the context and circumstances you may face different challenges yet innovation should proceed reaching the set objectives. I believe this is the most futuristic idea for the planet earth !

When establishing a design, every architect will consider what exactly they want to communicate by it.

Personally I search the Purpose of a design.

It is to decide on a strong focal point that will drive all the architectural system, draw everybody’s attention and create that perfect balance and rythm. This purpose or concept reflects in the design creating this way new buildings and the spaces in and around them. A living organism!

For me, architecture has two ways of manifesting itself: Mimicking to go a little unnoticed, or contrasting with the environment, highlighting and saying that it exists with a new and functional design, it is for both reasons that I like architectural design, adding the appearance ecological design to coexist with the planet trying to avoid more pollution.
